This here Losing Song

Here is a song I wrote about losing everything. Whether misplaced, left behind, or robbed I have lost quite a few things in my life. Some are just things like my laptop and various ipods of the past which were stolen from me in high school and college…or like my suitcase which I left on the train home for thanksgiving last week…or a book from the city library which I lost  in the library of our school somehow. (A graphic Biography of Trotsky–has anyone seen it?)

Sometimes I lose Ideas too like songs that I write in my head but never put down on paper, or Ideas I write like “Loser: The Musical”. (a musical I was writing about this concept, but I lost the notes to it)

I get so down I think I sometimes lost my love and purpose in life…but one thing I managed to save and which keeps me sane is this here losing song:

This here losin’ song

I used to have a lamp,

Now I got no lamp.

I used to have goals

Now I got no goal.

I used to have a nice locket…

was a hole in my pocket,

It’s an easier load, so I’m carrying on

I’ll be singing this here losin’ song.

I used to have money

But the money’s all gone

I wrote me a novel

But the story was stolen

I used be a hot soul…

now it feels so cold.

It’s an easier load, so I’m carrying on

I’ll be singing this here losin’ song.

I once was a preacher

But I lost my faith

Had all the time in the world, but

I got no more time to waste.

I used to have a true love…

but the truth was all wrong,

now it’s an easier load, so I’m carrying on

I’ll be singing this here losin’ song.

I could give you my mind,

I could give you my heart.

I could give you anything

That isn’t too shiny or sharp.

I used to be ashamed,

But my shame is all gone.

It’s an easier load, so I’m carrying on

I’ll be singing this here losin’ song.

So next time you are down cause you lost something write a song about it. Then you’ll have something you could have never had before.
